Mexico drug cartels killing in the United States: Drug Czar
John Walters, US Drug Czar, stated that Mexican Drug Cartels are kidnapping and killing victims on US territory.
Mexican drug cartels, which have caused a surge in violence south of the border, are kidnapping and killing people inside U.S. territory, said John Walters, director of the U.S. Office of National Drug Control Policy.
“Some of these groups not only engage in crime and violence in Mexico, but they come across and kidnap, murder and carry out assassinations,” Walters said in a news conference in Mexico City.
Traffickers have also increased kidnapping in Mexico as a way to make money because U.S. efforts to counter drug use are reducing their earnings from narcotics sales, Walters said. The U.S. hasn’t succeeded in stopping arms trafficking to Mexico, and will step up border controls for traffic heading south, he said.
