Creative industries in the United Kingdom claim that up to 50 percent of all Internet traffic in the country is file-sharing activities.

Drug addicts in Russia

There were an estimated 5 million drug addicts in Russia in 2010, with half of all addicts addicted to heroin.

Heroin causes at least 30,000 deaths per year in Russia.

$137 Billion of counterfeit goods sold online

Brand Protection firm MarkMonitor estimates that Internet sellers are earning $137 Billion a year from selling counterfeit goods online.

Marijuana cases in Japan in 2009

The National Police Agency in Japan announced that there were 3,903 cases of marijuana in Japan in 2009.  The number of cases were up 74 from 2008, and was the fourth straight year of increasing.

Murders in Medellin Colombia

In 2009, there were 2,899 murders in Medellin, Colombia, doubled the murder total in 2008.  The increase is directly attributed to  fighting between the estimated 150 to 300 drug gangs over territory in the region.

100,000 children in the United States fall victim to sex trafficking

According to a hearing in the United States Senate, US Senator Richard Durbin stated that an estimated 100,000 children fall victim to sex trafficking in the United States each year.

The Senator further stated that the  average age that a girl enters prostitution in the United States is 13.

Prescription drugs abuse second to Marijuana in the United States

Abusing prescription drugs is the second most illegally used drugs in the United States after marijuana, according to the United Nations.

6.2 Million people in the United States were addicted to prescription drugs in the US in 2008.

More tigers in farms than in the wild in China

In 2010, there were only 50 tigers believed to be roaming in the wild versus 5,000 tigers raised in tiger farms in China.

Cocaine production in South America

According to the United Nations, in 2008 South America had 167,600 hectares devoted to cocaine production, a decrease of 8 percent of 2007.

The cultivation area of Colombia accounted for 430 tons of cocaine, or 48.3 percent of the total amount cultivated in South America. Peru accounted for 302 tons, or 33.5 percent of the total amount.

Percentage of callers to human trafficking line from Texas
