Louis Vuitton top counterfeit brand in South Korea

In 2009, Louis Vuitton was the most counterfeited brand in South Korea, accounting for up to half of all counterfeit goods seizures.

In 2008, Chanel was the most counterfeited brand in South Korea.

2009 Counterfeit goods seizures in Japan

Customs officials in Japan seized 1.04 million counterfeit goods items in 2009, according to Finance Ministry. The total amount seized was up 10.6 percent from the previous year.

86 percent of the counterfeit items originated from China, followed by 6 percent from South Korea.

The most counterfeited good was counterfeit purses, which accounted for 55 percent of all goods seized.

Counterfeit Louis Vuitton seizures in 2009

In 2009, luxury goods maker Louis Vuitton initiated action that lead to nearly 9,500 seizures of counterfeit goods bearing their logo, such as counterfeit purses.  The total counterfeit goods seized was 31 percent higher than the 2008 total.

Less than half of counterfeit purse buyers end up buying real item

According to a study from MIT, 46 percent of buyers of counterfeit purses ends up purchasing the authentic purse within two and a half years.

Burberry believed to be most counterfeited label

According to the Guardian, fashion label Burberry is believed to be the most copied fashion label by counterfeit manufacturers, ahead of labels such as Louis Vuitton and Gucci.

Counterfeit Purses seizures in FY 2008

11 percent of all counterfeit goods seized by United States Customs Officials were handbags, wallets and backpacks.  The street value of these counterfeit products was $29.6 Million.

Dooney & Bourke receives fake purses asking for repair

Handbag company Dooney & Bourke receives 60 counterfeit purses a week  from people asking the company to repair the purse under warranty.

Louis Vuitton Anti-counterfeiting activities

In 2007, luxury brand Louis Vuitton conducted over 7,600 anti counterfeiting raids and shut down more than 750 websites selling counterfeit Louis Vuitton products.

Louis Vuitton spends $18.1 million per year fighting counterfeits

Fashion company Louis Vuitton reportedly spends $18.1 million each year in its anti-counterfeiting operations.  In 2007, it had forty lawyers on staff and contracted 250 outside private investigators to assist in preventing its brand from counterfeits.
