In 2011, there were 326 arrests for drug smuggling at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City. The number of arrests in 2011 was 19.8 percent higher than the 274 drug smuggling arrests in 2008.
1,096 pounds of cocaine and 732 pounds of heroin was seized by Customs and Border Protection officers at JFK Airport in 2011. The year before, police seized 1,267 pounds of cocaine and 621 pounds of heroin at the airport.
