Economic Control by Crime Syndicates in Japan

Organized crime in Japan controls an economic market worth $242 Billion (20 Trillion Yen) a year. These activities include many legal industries such as the construction industry and stock trading.

In terms of illicit revenue from criminal activities, the Yakuza earns about $21 Billion a year from crimes such as prostitution and illegal gambling.
