Fake Ids Bought in the United States

in Counterfeit Goods

During Spring Break 2001, police in Florida seized over 10,000 forms of counterfeit identifications from minors. Based on those seizure rates, police estimate that there are over a million fake ID cards circulating the United States.

Recent seizures of fake ID cards back up this figure.

For example, in 2010, police in the Arizona city of Tucson seized over 2,000 fake IDs, and over 1,700 fake IDs were seized by U.S. Customs based in Chicago in the first 6 months of 2011.

Based on these incidents, Havocscope is using a 1 Million figure to estimate the number of fake ID cards in the United States.

With the average price of a fake ID selling for $100, the estimated counterfeit identification market in the U.S. is valued at $100 Million.
