Human smuggling revenue in Israel

in Transnational Crime

The human smuggling industry in Israel generates up to $20 Million a year.

Interior Ministry officials estimate that up to 14,000 people are illegally smuggled into Israel across the Sinai dessert each year, and pay Bedouin smugglers up to $1,500 per person.

Most of the migrants are from African countries Eritrea and Sudan and fly into Cairo to begin the 12 day journey across the Sinai dessert.
