An estimated 100,000 women are trafficked to Japan from other countries every year.1
In addition, a " significant" number of the 71,804 women from the Philippines who entered Japan under the " Entertainment" Visa in 2004 are considered to have been trafficked to work in the sex industry. 2
The sex industry in Japan is a one billion dollar industry.3
