Market Overview

An article in the Washington Post stated " The International Organization for Migration considers Moldova the main European source of women and children for forced prostitution in Western Europe, the Balkans, and the Middle East." ¹

Human Trafficking victims are generally taken from rural areas. 70 percent of the 1,300 repatriated women over two years (2002-2004) came from rural areas, with 12 percent being minors.²
