Microsoft lowers price of Office to fight piracy in Kenya

Microsoft is lowering the price of its Office Suite to fight piracy in Kenya.

From Epicenter:

Microsoft’s plan to combat piracy in Kenya is pretty simple, really. Instead of trying to sue it away, they’re lowering prices to make Microsoft software more affordable, according to an IDG report.

The company cut prices on home and student office suites to 6,300 Kenya shillings (roughly $90) from 11,700 Kenya shillings (around $170).

Software piracy is a $47.8 billion market.

Kenya’s Black Market is listed at $260 Million on the Havocscope Black Market Countries Index.
