In 2010, doctors in the U.S. State of Florida prescribed and sold 46 million oxycodone tablets.
After a new law banning the sale of drugs in doctors offices went into effect in 2011, the number of oxycodone pills sold in the stateĀ was 1.2 million. The figure represented a drop of 97 percent from 2010 to 2011.
90 of the top 100 doctors in the United States prescribing oxycodone in 2010 were located in Florida. In 2011, the state had 13 doctors listed among the top 100.
In 2011, sales of oxycodone increased in the surrounding states of Georgia, Kentucky and Tennessee.
