Cost to bribe a city assemblymen in China

Counterfeit goods seizures in the European Union

In 2009, European Authorities seized 118 million articles of counterfeit goods from entering the union.

The largest category of counterfeit good was clothing, with 27 percent of all seizures being fake clothing.

64 percent of all counterfeit goods seized was from China, a 10 percent increase in the amount of goods seized in 2008.

Illegal gambling on 2010 World Cup in Asia

During the 2010 World Cup, police in Asia arrested over 5,000 people for illegal gambling activities and seized more than $10 Million.

Police in Malaysia, China, Thailand and Singapore raided 800 illegal gambling dens where $155 Million in illegal bets were placed during the World Cup.

Internet cafes in China use pirated video distriubtion systems

In 2010, out of a total of 130,000 registered Internet cafes in China, roughly 80,000 cafes have never bought legitimate video distribution systems, meaning that they are showing pirated content.

Around 30 percent of Internet cafe customers in China watch movies on the computers.

Amount of wildlife seized by Chinese authorities

From 2007 to June of 2010, Chinese authorities reported seizing 38,599 animal parts weighing 26.63 tons.

In addition to the wildlife animals, 2,753 rare plant varieties weighing more than 55 tons were seized by Customs.

Price of girls from Burma sold in China

According to a report by Voice of America, girls from Burma/Myanmar between the ages of 16 to 18 are sold as brides in rural China for $700.

Price of bear paw from Russia and sold in China
