Millions of Indian families pay bribes

Transparency International reported that around 4 million families in India were forced to pay a bribe to a public official to receive services in 2009.

Average age of girl entering prostitution in India falls

Between 2000 to 2010, the average age of a girl entering the prostitution industry in India was between 10 to 14 years old.  In previous decades, the average age was between 14 to 16 years old.

10 tons of heroin smuggled into India each year

10 tons of heroin is smuggled into India each year, according to Delhi police.

A majority of the heroin is from Afghanistan via Pakistan, with the rest being smuggled from Myanmar.

One third of world’s child brides are from India
