Malaysian Tiger population under 500

Due to illegal poaching activities, the population of wild Malaysian Tigers are estimated to be under 500. In the 1950s, there were an estimated 3,000 tigers in the wild.

Number of prostitutes arrested in Malaysia

Between 2005 to September 2009, more than 36,858 women were arrested for prostitution in Malaysia.

In the first 9 months of 2009, 7,810 women from 21 different countries were arrested for prostitution.

One in three packs of cigarettes in Malaysia are illegal

According to Custom Officials in Malaysia, 36.8 percent of all cigarettes sold in Malaysia are either counterfeit cigarettes or smuggled illegally into the country.

Increase in drugs from Malaysia entering Indonesia in 2009

In the first eight month of 2009, there was an increase of 300 percent in the amount of drugs entering Indonesia from Malaysia. Heroin and crystal methamphetamine were the most frequent type of drug smuggled into Indonesia.
