273 tons of illegal bushmeat smuggled into Europe each year

An estimated 273 tons of illegal bushmeat could be smuggled into Europe for personal consumption, according to a study.

Researchers found that on average, about 5 tons of bushmeat was seized by Customs at the Paris Roissy-Charles de Gaulle airport.

Number of prostitutes working in France

There are an estimated 20,000 to 30,000 males and females working as prostitutes in France. 80 percent of the prostitutes are foreigners. This figure is double the estimated 15,000 prostitutes in the country in 2002.

Illegal downloading increases by 3 percent in France

A study released in 2010 found that despite peer-to-peer networking downloading falling by 15 percent, the illegal downloading of content increased by 3 percent over the same period.

The study found that the cause of the increase was due to less people using P2P networks but instead downloading songs directly from websites and utilizing streaming content services.

According to the International AntiCounterfeiting Coalition, France losses an estimated 38,000 jobs and 6 billion euros ($8.5 Billion) to counterfeiting each year.
