Research Methods Since Havocscope focuses its attention on issues that are difficult to monitor and verify, it is essential to explain the manner in which we conduct our research. Listed below are the key principles of our research method, as well as the manner in which information is documented. 1. Policy Neutral and Financially Independent Havocscope actively pursues and gathers information in regards to the activities. However, pursuing information is the extent of its participation. In all other matters, Havocscope vigorously maintains a neutral perspective. Havocscope does not offer strategies to address the activity or offer policy recommendations and advocate for policy changes. The focus of Havocscope is solely on the removing the uncertainty involved and not on solving or eliminating the activity. The purpose of this policy is to ensure that the information presented by Havocscope are free from any type of financial conflict. It is Havocscope's belief that research and information gathering should never be associated with other revenue generating sources. The information listed in the Havocscope Global Indexes will never be financially linked to services that strive to lower or eliminate the activities. 2. Sources The sources that are gathered comes from various outlets. Most of our information comes in the forms of Newspaper Articles, Academic Journals, Governmental Studies and Reports, Non-Governmental Reports, and Press Releases from relevant institutions. When possible, Havocscope will source the primary document. It is Havocscope's policy not to attribute any numbers in the market to an anonymous source. Every single number in our market will be attributed to a source that individuals can follow up on. If Havocscope determines market values based upon its own calculations, the manner in which the calculations were formed along with all of information used will be properly documented. 3. Documentation Havocscope follows the NOTE CITATION method as stated in The Chicago Manual of Style, 15th Edition when documenting sources and information. The Note Citation method is as follows: Author First and Last Name, " Title of Article" , Publication Title, Month/Day/Year of Publication, Internet Address (when applicable), Date of Access in Month/Day/Year format (when applicable).
Please note that Chicago method is used only as a GUIDE, and not as a rule. Since Havocscope is not an academic journal, when situations arise where it is difficult to source a document using The Chicago Manual of Style, then Havocscope will present its sources in the most practical and convenient manner. For example, when sourcing information in the Havocscope Data Center, the Internet Address will be hyperlinked to the Title of Article. (Updated: May 5, 2008) |
