There were 29,000 registered sex workers in the port city of Toamasina, Madagascar in 2012. The number of registered sex workers in 2012 was higher than the 17,000 registered in 1993.

A 15 year old girl was quoted stating that she earns $15 for each client.

Over 1,000 trees are estimated to be illegally logged each day in the Masoala rainforest in Madagascar.

Back in 2009, illegal logging activities increased by 25 percent.

Illegal logging by gangs in Madagascar lead to about 7,000 cubic meters of timber a month to be cut down in 2009.

The wood would then be sold in Asia at prices of $5,000 a cubic meter.
