The United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Assistant Special Agent in Charge for the state of Utah stated that over 78,000 marijuana plants were eradicated around the state in 2011. A large portion of the marijuana is grown on remote public lands such as forests and mountains.
In total, the black market marijuana trade in Utah is estimated to generate between $500 Million to $1 Billion a year in revenue.
