Bank Theft by Workers

Over 5,500 reports of suspected embezzlement and theft were made to the U.S. Government Financial Crime Enforcement Network in 2011. Out of those reports, 580 were investigated by the FBI and 429 cases resulted in convictions.

According to a news report by ABC News, the FBI and the U.S. Attorney’s Office generally will not pursue bank employee theft cases if the total amount stolen is less than $100,000.
