Cost to Decontaminate and Clean Up Meth Lab

in Substance Abuse

Criminal justice agencies in the United States report that the cost to clean up a methamphetamine lab typically costs between $2,500 to $5,000 per lab. The high cost of cleanup is due to meth production involving chemical ingredients such as battery acid, ammonia and drain cleaners. The cleanup crews must have specialized training to prevent chemical explosions and all of the waste found at the meth lab must be dumped at specifically approved waste sites.
