Drug Abuse in Kyrgyzstan

The Government of Kyrgyzstan estimates that 10,000 people in the country inject illegal drugs. Roughly 10 percent of the drug abusers in Kyrgyzstan are women.

In 2013, security services closed 281 drug crime cases, compared to 213 in 2012. Law enforcement also seized nearly 5.2 tonnes of illegal drugs in 2012. Heroin seizures consisted of 12.6 kilograms of the illicit drugs seized.
