Human Trafficking in Tibet

A report published by public security in Tibet stated that between 2008 and 2012, nearly 100 women and children were trafficked from Tibet into various Chinese provinces. The women were trafficked to be wives or household servants. In 2011, authorities found 38 women and children who were victims of human trafficking from Tibet.

Between the same time period, authorities arrested 70 human traffickers who were operating out of Tibet.

Out of the 75 counties in Tibet, human trafficking cases have been reported in 45 counties.
