Mexican Cartels Target Atlanta

Mexican drug cartels are turning the US city of Atlanta into a major drug trafficking hub, according to law enforcement officials.  In FY2008, police seized $70 million in drug money in Atlanta, the highest amount in the country.  So far this year, $30 million has already been seized, far higher than the $19 million seized in Los Angeles and the $18 million in Chicago.

The region has become the main distribution center for the drug cartels in their entire eastern United States operations.
