Mexico drug traffickers control cities

Through the use of threats and bribes, Mexican drug trafficking cartels are believed to either influence or control up to 72 percent of all municipalities in Mexico, according to Edgardo Buscaglia, a professor of law and economics at both Columbia University and Mexico’s ITAM University.
