According to a health center in London, many former prostitutes have returned to the streets in 2013 due to the tough economic climate. These women were able to find jobs such as cleaners and other low-paid jobs. As those types of jobs become difficult to find, the women go back to the streets and charge customers $30 (£20) per act.
Other sex workers in the city also charge $30 for sex. The Economist interviewed numerous escorts who all said that in 2013 they were lowering their prices.
