Counterfeit cigarettes in the Netherlands

Officials in the Netherlands reported that in 2009, 0.9 percent of cigarettes smoked in the country were counterfeit, down from 4 percent in 2005. The reason for the drop was attributed to the lack of quality of the counterfeit cigarettes.

In 2009, Custom officials in the Netherlands confiscated 209 million cigarettes worth 36.3 Million Euros from entering the country. The figure is up from the 204 million seized in 2008.

3,000 cases of human trafficking in the Netherlands

There are an estimated 3,000 cases of human trafficking in the Netherlands each year.

In addition, there are about 30,000 prostitutes in the country, with 15 percent of all men using their services each year.

Cost to incinerate trash 4 times more expensive then illegal dumping

Foreign women trafficked to Netherlands for prostitution
